can anyone on the list tell me if there is a difference in the long and short cage versions of the late 70,s as far as the chain length that is required ? i have a suntour cyclone short cage der. for a 5 spd freewheel fairly lge 1st gear maybe 28 -30 teeth haven't counted it yet, that has a missing limiter screw the housing is cracked off halfway.i thinks its for the inner limit of the freewheel but not sure. anyways i guess my question is if i replaced it with the long cage model would i have to modify or get a longer chain? i have only seen the gt long cage on e-bay so far but if i'm patient i'm sure the version i have will pop up eventually.if anyone has one available i might be interested in a trade or whatever.by the way its for a nishiki pro comp II that i scored(rescued) at the localauction/flea mkt.new gum brake hoods for the diacompe drillium levers are in the mail, and the sugino mighty pro cranks w/drilled chainrings look mighty fine.sugino fluted seat post painted red inside flutes to match frame as are the inset on crank arms. has the original araya 700 c blue label rims on sunshin?hubs kyokut pro pedals seems to be all original japanese bike.nice details to frame chrome suntour dropouts front fork is 1/2 chrome with eyelets nice scalloped seat stay treatment,i like it.bike needs a litle tlc and restoration as a rider. if we get a nishiki section on cr i,ll send a pic. kevin ruberg howell nj USA
