I am not mechanically inclined but have used two simple techniques in similar situations. 1. Carefully scratch a new slot into the topof the broken screw using a file or scoring device; or 2. Carefully drill through the screw with a bit slightly smaller than the screw. You might do this in stages, going from very small drill bit to larger. Then pull out the thin shell of metal screw shaft that is left.
