Dear Paul, There is not much left in the way of interesting bike shops left in London and what there is the infamous non cycling British dealers have managed to clear out ages ago. These three places are worth a visit, if you have a free Saturday Portobello Road the northern end (flea market not the antique Holland Park Rd. end) up near the Catholic convent there are sometimes good secondhand lightweights for sale. Also under the West Way Flyover there is a guy who has classic cycling jerseys but his main trade is football shirts. Last time I was there he was doing a roaring trade to Gay community it seemed that they all wanted to wear jerseys with rainbow bands for clubbing? There is aslo a good badge stall here but his cycling club badges are pricey, great West Indian food and the goat or jerk is well worth the visit. Try also Bicycle Workshop in All Saints Road this is where Tom Board use to build in the basement and is just off the lane (Portobello Rd.) Brick Lane in the East End on a Sunday morning is well worth it as well, the occasional lightweight turns up here as well. Couple of weekends ago I spotted a 60's Allin and a Ted Gerrrard from the same period which were as cheap as chips. This area is good for a Ruby (Ruby Murray = Curry) and Bagels. Attended Mildenhall Rally this bank Holiday and went to the jumble sad to say most of the stuff was junk and very pricey all the good stuff gets traded between the dealers before it opens to the public and then outed on eBay. Best wishes Bert Plamer Greenford Middx.UK.
