JIS. I just looked at a NOS Nervar spindle for a 50bcd crank that I happen to have in my office and it appears that the taper is the same as a Shimano UN72. Perhaps the Star crank was Campy taper; I don't have one to check.

I'll would have to measure to be certain, but I have an old Nervar Star BB which (without actually measuring) resembles Campagnolo; and I have an early '80s Nervar crankset from a Peugeot PGN-10 that uses a spindle which resembles (again, without actually measuring) a JIS taper piece.

What's the story?
