Jon, I've never seen a MAFAC Racer centerpull brake caliper turned into a "sidepull" brake before.

How well does this work? Seems like the leverage wouldn't be too good...

Actually works pretty well. Not something I'd do on a "serious" bike, but on the fixed gear it's fine. The leverage is not a problem, I have the calipers way open as there is no q/r and there's still plenty of lever left. The pull is a bit heavy though. I think I could modify them to get a nicer cable run and make it lighter, but it went together easy, worked, and I left it alone.
