Well, as I said, the winning bid looked a bargain, but there were WAY too many red flags on this one for me to bid. I hope someone doesn't get stiffed here. My prophesy that a less suspicious one would turn up almost came true. Check out this other World Voyageur on eBay:

http://ebay.com/<blah>

Even cleaner, seller has 499 feedbacks, 99.6% positive and takes PayPal. Currently at $100. Only problem, it's too tall for me at 58 cm but maybe great for someone else here.

BTW it checked out the Schwinn model spec database that someone here provided the link for a few months ago. It shows the World Voyageur as sold only in 1973, but the Voyageur II was sold for several more years, and seems to have almost identical specs, including the Dura Ace crankset. Anyone know the significant between the two models? Also, I could swear the several World Voyageurs Arnie Nashbar obtained In The Day for members of my old club the OutSpokin Wheelman, which he cofounded, had Dura-Ace CENTERPULL brakes, but the Schwinn model database says DiaCompe. Is it just my memory, or does someone else remember the Dura Ace CP's on this bike?

~Well, it would have been nice if the seller mentioned that.

But HERE is the bad part:

The seller has been registered with ebay over 2 years but only became active this month???

He had two Positive Feedbacks recently - both for his only auctions as seller.. BOTH of those auctions were won by the same bidder,... a guy who had previously only bought scuba diving related auctions... but now he suddenly bought a digital voice recorder and a Snap-on & Craftsman tool set from this seller???

Both the bidder and this seller each left Positive feedback for each other... only a few minutes apart ???

Best of all: They had each left their feedback for each other only minutes after each of the auctions had actually ended ???

--------------

To whom at eBay does one report this sort of obvious attempt to build up bogus mutual feedback?

Bidders Beware!
