Fred, I'd also like to see Sheldon's reply on this.

Recently I replaced the 13-21 6-speed Suntour freewheel on my Nishiki Ultimate with a 14-28 7-speed Shimano from Harris Cyclery. It was not "plug-and-play". I had to add about 1mm of special washers I made to the RH side of the hub to keep the chain away from the dropout and adjust the stop screws on the NR derailleur. I also got the recommended SRAM PC58 chain and it shifts almost _too_ smoothly. My previous chain was a Sedis and the SRAM PC58 was the perfect replacement.
