the tough part about buying plus-fours is that the majority dont seem to have quite the shape of the ones popular in the 30s-50s. just not the same flounce at the knee. ive been more likely to find what i consider to be plus-twos or knickers. rarely do i find an auction with a pic of someone wearing the supposed "plus-fours", so i can see that, in fact, they do come down over the knees in that typical fashion. ive got a couple pairs that *dont*. and then i find places that have pics of the plus-fours i want, and theyre all bespoke clothing places, and i cant afford that :)

one things for sure, club cyclists in the 30s sure had a hell of a lot more style! now if i could just a source for the nice patterned wool cowl-neck sweaters ive the italians and french out on training rides in during that period...
