I am finding all this conversation on 'knickers as esoterica' rather amusing, especially with all the disparaging comments on fashion the past couple of weeks. As a designer, I find fashion extrordinarilly interesting and if used with finesse can be most democratizing for those

of us that were not gifted with great appearance. You all may want to see what the bike messengers in NYC have been wearing, and mtn bikers for the past couple of years. Maybe not wool (they are a bit smarter than that), but knickers nonetheless. You can find them readily on ebay, I personally wish they came in a tartan plaid. .. there is nothing new out there, we are just standing on the shoulders of

giants...
