Macleans was an old established London lightweight firm. The first reference I have on them is in "Cycling" August 24th. 1922 and their address is 2 Jackson Road Holloway. They are just called Macleans. Looking through other 1920 copies of "Cylings" I have found references to "Featherweights" the Featherweight Cycling Company located at The Empire Parade, Angel, 366 Upper Street, London N.1 in Cycling August 1925. A year later in Cycling September 3rd 1926, Macleans Featherweight's is trading from 366 Upper Street and 192 Balls Pond Road. Looks like they must have merged business's. Now the twist for sometime in 1927 they start advertising as "Featherweights" at 366 Upper Street and as sole London agents for Macleans (Ref: Cycling October 7th 1927). The firm of Macleans was a very successful concern but finally closed in late 1962. Holdsworths purchased them and made them for several years these are easily distinguished from the original Macleans frames as the frame numbers have no letter prefix and the metal headbadge and down tube transfers have London S.E.20 on them.
