Subject: [CR]50th Anniversary Gruppi

a few days ago steven maasland wrote about the high prices 50th gruppi were fetching, wondering when they had doubled in price. i don't know the answer to that, but it seems pretty clear that the prices being fetched are not flukes. as steven mentioned, i sold a gruppo, serial number 4891, for $3,000, a couple of months ago steven also pointed to an auction which has since ended, where gruppo no. 6836, sold for almost $3,200. and right now, in auction 7212485173, gruppo no. 0427 is up to $2,500. with a relatively low serial number, the gruppo will probably sell for well over $3,000.

i didn't want to sell to sell my gruppo, but i did in order to finance the purchase of my model b from eddie albert. although many on this list do not like the design of the 50th gruppo and/or believe they are overpriced, i think we can all agree that they are highly sought after and have become a recognized commodity. they are easy to sell, and as the current prices show, they do not go down in value. when i needed to raise some money fast, the 50th gruppo was the logical choice to sell. i think prices for 50th gruppi, both nos and used, will only continue to go up.
