The following is extracted from the news.telegraph report:

'Chief Inspector Lyn Adams, from North Wales Police, said the driver appeared to have lost control on a gentle left-hand bend. "The driver had lost control because of the ice on the road," he said."There is no indication to suggest that this is down to something like excessive speed. Our best estimate at the moment is that the car was driving at something like 50 miles an hour. On a road like this, that isn't excessive."

In September, police named the A547 in the Abergele area as one of the 11 most deadly roads in north Wales.'

It makes me wonder just what would be considered excessive, if 50m.p.h. on a bend on a dangerous road on a freezing morning after rain is deemed to be reasonable...
