Well, the suspicious Raleigh Pro auction just ended at $810. Even if it is legit, that's a pretty high price IMHO. Since it is a "private auction" you can't see the bidder's user names. So maybe he ran it up himself with shill bids. Perhaps he overdid it a bit and legitimate bidders didn't follow. On the other hand, he might be trying to make it look "worth" $810, then send the highest legitimate bidders Second Chance offers at "bargain" prices.

Or the whole thing could be perfectly on the level and I just have a suspicious nature. One thing you have to say for eBay, it is entertaining in a crass sort of way. Sort of the ultimate "reality" show, except that the plot just evolves with no need for imbecile script writers.

But looking closer, this looks suspicious. A "private" auction where you can't see who else is bidding. The only location given is USA. He doesn't take PayPal, so you can't recover a payment through them. Likewise credit cards, but he does mention wire transfers, always a red flag for me.

Over 500 feedbacks, 99.6% positive, impressive at first. But when you check them, only one is since Feb 2003, 3 1/2 years ago, and that one is from a no longer registered buyer on a private auction you can't view.

Maybe I'm not a trusting person, but this smells like identity theft to me. I'm laying off this one. Anyone else sense a scam here?
