To echo much of what others have already written about Saturday's Trexlertown Swap meet, it was in my opinion the best showing of vintage stuff, especially track goodies. There were a number of interesting bikes, including Legnanos, Frejus, a couple of Paramounts, International (Curtis snagged that one), many repainted beauties, lots of NR (and earlier) and stronglight goodies, I also think, though have no way of measuring this, yesterday's swap had the most vendors in the six or seven swaps that I have attended.
What makes it delightful for me is seeing and talking to old pals, rehashing the various symptoms for this hobby, meeting new ones, looking at the stuff, lusting after numerous parts and bikes, restraining myself from buying too much (with bicycle stuff, that probably is not possible, is it?), and yesterday's had the added benefit of an appearance by Ulrich and LeMond.
Spent most of the day walking around with Dan (former student who might not have learned literature from me, but certainly caught the bug for bikes) and pal Laura. Always nice to walk around with Larry Osborne and get his refreshing view of parts, folks, and sanity in general. And this might be breaking news on the bicycle front, Roy Drinkwater emerged from his retooling-reschooling cacoon that he mentioned last spring, at least appeared happy to back among the bike goofs.
Among Laura, Dan, and myself, we performed major rearrangement of the car, even resorting to tools, to fit everything for them to catch the train back to New York City. That probably marks for me and them a successful day.
All in all, from my perspective, one of the best swaps I have attended.
