Does anyone know the story behind this frame? I.e., where did the seller get it, etc?

Dale Brown Greensboro, North Carolina USA

I know a little of the story. The frame was actually listed on eBay several months ago. At the time, I recognized it from the Hetchins site, where it was used as an example of a fake Hetchins, with photo. The seller, however, had it listed as genuine. I contacted several of the high bidders, simply sending them the link to the page on the Hetchins site where this info was contained, without any commentary from me. I assumed the seller knew what he had, since it had been featured on the Hetchins site, and there wasn't time to wait for him to "do the right thing" and still let bidders know what they were bidding on. A couple said, "thanks for preventing me from buying a fake." The winning bidder, though, said he knew it was a fake but bought it anyway, knowing he couldn't afford a real one. Struck me as a little odd, especially since the frame hadn't been cheap, but hey, to each his own. That is probably the person selling it now.
