Subject: [CR]early 80's Mavic headset

In a fit of bottom feeding at T-Town, I pieced together a headset like those from the "Tout Mavic" bikes of the 80's. This is the headset that requires the special wrenches and has no flats. I'm pretty sure that all the parts I have are correct, except possibly the crown race. The crown race is just like those that came with the later headsets that are off topic (the type that was locked with an allen screw). Used with the lower cup of the headset that I have, it leaves a large gap that would allow dirt to enter and grease to drain out. It would need some sort of seal to work in the long run. So the question is:

Is it the case that the crown race is correct, and I am missing only a seal, or do I have the wrong race?

This is my third post today, so I'll knock it off, but I will just add this: Isn't it funny how buying a few old parts at a swap meet invariably leads to a need for several obscure small parts, not to mention research and hours of cleaning, polishing, lubricating......
