Hi Sasha and everybody,

To continue the thread of CR worthy bike shops in Montreal I'd like to say that the proper spelling is Longueuil (pronounced long-gay) and it's just about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from Montreal crossing the Jacques-Cartier bridge. This could mean 10 minutes if the traffic is clear or an hour if there is an accident on the bridge! Longueuil is a city in itself and is fairly large and is located in the area known as the "South Shore" or "Rive-sud". Marinoni is about 30 minutes highway driving from Montreal island's east end and they are located in Terrebonne on the "North Shore". He is open on saturdays but I doubt you will see old man Marinoni there are the place is run by his children now. I recently heard from a customer of mine that Marinoni may have some old stock frames that can be had for a reasonable price. I should also mention that when driving on Montreal island right hand turns on red lights are Not allowed. They are allowed on the north and south shore and anywhere else in Quebec but not the island. If you plan to ride in Montreal it's best to make use of the bike paths. They are faster and much safer, and bring a light as the sun is setting here at about 6 pm now. The best stores and largest concentration of stores are on or around Parc Avenue in the area known as the Plateau but there aren't any shops I know of that have an interest in vintage bikes.

Cheers, Peter Schwar Boucherville (in the suburbs of Longueuil in the suburbs of Montreal), Quebec, Canada
