Greetings, Emanuel and CR Mates---

Emanuel, you were looking for Carlton Jewel pictures...

Well, after hours of scouring all of my old, dusty hard drives, I've finally found (and have now posted) the auction photos of that Carlton Jewel I had seen a couple of years ago on ebay.

I remember those auctions by Paul Cameron (for there were about a half dozen bikes auctioned simultaneously by him) caused quite a stir on CR, in that most if not all of the bikes were lovely, and a couple of them----this Jewel and a Viking SBU tracker----were excpetional. I hope to find the Viking photos soon and post those, too.

The Jewel auction started December 8, 2004 and was a 10-day listing on UK ebay.

I'm wondering if one of our guys/gals won the Jewel and where it is right now?????

The text of the ad follows, and a photo link is below the text---------

1947 CARLTON JEWEL 23"

Made to special order with chrome panel on seat post, chrome f/rear d/outs & head lugs. Superbly cut out with Hearts & Fleu D Ly's & gorgeous round forks with matching hearts.

Rare 2-speed freewheel makes for extremely comfortable riding. Brooks pro saddle, whitewall tyres, GB Brakes. The handlebars are almost unique Stratlight Dernier with handcut stem.

The name Carlton is soldered onto the head. This particular Jewel is the earliest model with a fancy b/bracket, Williams c/200 c/set & Webb pedals. Colour metallic burgundy. 27 x 1 1/4 wheels. [end auction text]
