Hi, I'm letting everyone know I'm here, mainly because the list administrator recommended it. I belong to a few other lists (non-bike) and I'm much more of a lurker than a poster, but who knows, maybe that will change.

I live in Long Beach, California, 45-year-old male, married w/two kids. I've been riding bikes all my life, and currently race in a local Masters class criterium series and try to get to the nearby world-class Home Depot ADT Velodrome as much as possible.

I currently have six bikes, only two of which are applicable to this list. The first is a '73 Schwinn Paramount track bike I had repainted by Waterford Bikes and which has all the original Campy & Cinelli components (with the exception of the wheels, which have Phil Wood hubs. I'm not sure if these are period correct, but they were on the bike when I bought it).

The second bike is not technically mine, but I just built a mid-70s Gitane Mixte frame bike for my wife to commute on. She's not real big on shifting and all that stuff, so I made it into a singlespeed for her and she's really appreciating the virtues of a fine lugged steel frame. My favorite feature on her bike are the original and nearly pristine white plastic Mafac brake levers, which are mated to Mafac Racer brakes.

Anyhow, I'm really looking forward to going through the archives, reading current posts, and generally spending more time than I ought to indulging my favorite hobby.

Thanks and best wishes to the list,

Tim Chauran Long Beach, California

- a new Cervelo that I race on, a new Soma that I built for a West Coast tour next Spring,
