Subject: [CR]Schwinn Paramount Chainstay Lengths?

Paramount owners,

Dave Mann asked me this question (which I couldn't answer with any certainty), so I offered to post this plea here to get more data. Please respond to him offline at damann@mitre.org

This is for a website he is building:

http://home.comcast.net/~pinnah/dirtbag-bikes/bikes.html

He stated that measuring the outside center of the BB to the center of the dropout along one chainstay would be fine and certainly the easiest.

He groups CS length into 3 primary buckets as follows, so he doesn't really need to be hyper accurate for his purposes.

# Road Racer: approx 41.5 cm # Audax/Event: between 42 cm and 42.5 cm # Sport Touring: between 43 cm and 44.5 cm # Loaded Touring: 45 cm or more

Thanks,

Bob Hufford Springfield, MO

I'm trying to determine the chainstay lengths on the old Paramounts. In particular, I'm interested in the CS length for the P13, P15 and P10 models in the 1970 - 1979 time frame.

Perhaps you could point me in the right direction?

I'm compiling a spreadsheet of bike geometries. It is archived here: http://home.comcast.net/~pinnah/dirtbag-bikes/bikes.html

CS length figures in to how I'm organizing the data. Wheelbase helps as a clue (published in the Schwinn data on your site) but I would really like the CS lengths.

I'm fairly certain that the CS length (like the rake) will be fixed for any given model regardless of the frame size.

Eyeballing from the pictures, I would guess that the measurements are: P13: CS = 41.5 cm P15: CS = 43.0 cm P10: CS = 43.0 cm

But these are just guesses based on the tire clearance near the seat tubes.
