THe TA front rack attaches to front brake bolt and the pivot bolts of the Mafac front center-pull brake, not to cantelever brake supports on the front fork. The little extension, which apparently didn't come on all TA racks, is designed to attach a light to the rack. I have one mounted on a 82 Witcomb; it supports a TA front bag.
