Well I wonder if Zeus 2000 used alloyed Ti as opposed to the CP Ti Campy used. Unlike Campy (and Teledyne), I've never heard of any problems with the Ti bits in the Zeus 2000 gruppo. I've long maintained that Zeus made more intelligent use of Ti than did Campy. In fact, I've always thought the Zeus 2000 gruppo was far better than the Campy SR gruppo, with the sole exception of the 2001 SP brakes, which did not come in short enough reach for many close clearance frames, and lacked any sort of rubber washer or bumper to protect the downtube from brake contact.

You got it Len! (I was waiting for someone to chime in to say that...) Actually it's "CP Titanium" (Commercially Pure) That's a lot of the problem with Teledyne Titans, early Campy Ti bits, etc. Dale Brown Greensboro, North Carolina USA http://www.classicrendezvous.com -----Original Message----- From: lennys_email@juno.com To: classicrendezvous@bikelist.org Sent: Fri, 27 Oct 2006 9:27 AM Subject: [CR] Titanium BBs etc.

I'm no expert but my understanding was that the issue with the Campag

Ti BBs and pedal axles was that they were made from raw titanium, as

opposed to the far stronger alloys currently in use.

One would think that if it was good enough for Captain America's

shield, it would be good enough for Campagnolo, but go figure.
