Rich Pinder asked:

Do you think the TA racks work on the bolts of the Mafac 2000 centerpulls ??

Do they work under the existing bolts, or are longer bolts required to mount these ?? ----------------------

1.) The TA front bag support rack should work equally well with Mafac's Racer, Competition, and 2000 brakes. These all used nearly identical central mounting yokes with the pivot bolts spaced 62-63 mm. apart.

Universal Model 61 brakes had their pivots spaced 68 mm. apart on their yoke, but the pivot mounting arms on the racks could be easily spread a few millimeters laterally. Moreover, the Universal yokes were flat (similar to the Mafacs), so this was not an obstacle.

I have not tried this, but I suspect the rack arms would also bend enough to fit onto Mafac's Raid calipers which had pivots spaced 75 mm. apart, and had only marginally thicker yokes.

Really, the main issue which made mounting this rack on a Weinmann / Dia-Compe or Shimano centerpull difficult was that their yokes were considerably thicker - especially where they backed up to the fork crown. The distance from the back of the yokes to the fronts of the pivot mounts on these calipers was roughly around 28 mm. versus only around 20 mm. on a Mafac or Universal 61.

2.) The mounting plates on the racks arms are only 2 mm. thick so I've just used the existing mounting bolts on the calipers with no problems.
