I think it is proper to share, and I want to share, that Hilary has responded and we are discussing my transaction. I am satisfied.

Peter and et al;

I just bought an early Karrimor handle bar bag from Hilary Stone without incident. The transaction was smooth, the bag was as described, was shipped well-packed and arrived promptly. Not siding with Hilary, but as business man, I pride myself in prompt and professional service and communication. But there have been times I have failed dramatically, just as I have recently in failing to ship an order of 650b rims to a customer in the US, which were ordered at least 8 weeks ago. I was sure I had shipped the order at the time, but after reviewing orders over the weekend, I have some explaining to do. Also I have had people telephone me, telling me they had sent me numerous E-mails, but no reply. I then do a check through my junk mail and spam filters and find their messages there. Why don't I check these filters every day, well, I sort through 300 - 400 E-mails a day, if I included the junk and spam, I would have to sort through close to 1000 messages a day. I would get nothing else done. Not providing any excuses for unprofessional service or behaviour, but we are discussing global commerce and there are a many things that can and do go wrong.

I have no vested interest in the reputation of Hilary Stone, I have enough trouble maintaining my own.

The text regarding the item stated clearly that the derailleur would be supplied with a chainstay mounting clamp. As my intended frame was without the necessary brazeon, the clamp was a vital requirement for me to make use of the derailleur, and it was on this basis that I bid on, and subsequently won the derailleur.

An email to Hilary brought a reply a few days later to the effect that he was away from home at the present, but that he would forward the clamp the following week. Reassured by this, I left things alone for a couple of weeks to allow for the postage time to Australia.

No reply has been received to any of them, although the email address in question was previously replied from, and most interestingly, at abouit the same time, Hilary made at least 5 contributions to the CR list from that same email.
