Subject: [CR]Re Hilary Stone

Regarding Hilary Stone from another Australian I have bought many ebay items from Hilary Stone and am in Australia. Usually no more than 10 days postage regardless of the size of the package - sometimes less. Last year I bought some items from Matteo B in Italy and it was a 7 month wait (an unusual set of circumstances )- but they came through......the point being that regardless of how long it takes to arrive, from my experience in other interests, vintage bike parts sellers are unusually trustworthy and reliable compared to other sellers. It is remarkable how the internet and global postal facilities have allowed us to build significant collections once the preserve of museums. Take this fact into account and a few extra days for an item to cross the Atlantic, Pacific or Indian Ocean is not a good enough reason to destroy or white-ant the credibility of a supplier of rare items that so many have found essential to complete a correct restoration. Hilary Stone could improve his ebay profile somewhat by sending a message notifying customers of postage date, but aside from that I have found items shipped quickly, well packed and generally good value as they are usually in better condition in 'the flesh' than how they appear on the net. all I can do for the moment is 'out' Hilary's behaviour and add my name to those who would warn the classic/vintage cycle community of the apparently less than honest behaviour shown in this case.

I purchased several "Ebay parts" from Hilary, always very correct transactions. I'm sure a lot of CR members have the same experience. He sells a lot of parts, look at his Ebay feedback. I can imagine sometimes things go wrong. Is the mailing list intended to make lists of people with less than honest behaviour. If yes, is there a list of people who have an other opinion about members ? Why keep these discussions not private, when there are problems and they are not solved properly, give a negative Ebay feedback. Mr. Stone stays on a list : one of mine favourite sellers.
