Theoretically 26T, but I've used 28T many times, and the 1968 Raleigh Pro I recently bought actually had a 32T. It's really a matter of the spread between large-large and small-small. You can make a 52-42 in front work with a 14-28 FW if you get the chain length exactly right. The Pro had a 52-44 and 14-32 which is a larger spread, so the extreme combos were probably totally unusable and maybe another gear or two not real good.

Does any one know the upper range of freewheels that a Nuovo Record, Gran Sport or super Record derailleur can take? I am building up a 1959 Garlatti as a five speed city bike and am interested to know what the possible combinations are. i am also ISO some bluemels fenders, new or used, in blue, white black or chrome. thanks so much.
