Subject: [CR]Viking Severn Valley

I believe that Viking cycles of Princess Alley, Wolverhampton chose the name "Severn Valley" for their top model because Viking team rider Bob Thom (formerly of the Wolverhampton Wheelers) won the Severn Valley Grand Prix in 1947 and 1948. Bob Thom later managed the team, and also GB teams, and was the Sales Manager for the company. The race was on a complex, and tough, course and I think it expired a few years ago when the cost of police marshalling became prohibitive. Ray Green, Brighton, England
