Before starting, I'm new (at least to posting) on CR. Been in the Berkeley-Oakland area and riding here since the mid sixties. Too many bikes, too little time.
I'm pondering how to build up a french frame from around '70. If it was going to have Campy parts I'd have no problem knowing what was appropriate and where to look if I had a question. But this bike was obviously originally fitted with french parts and I have been unable to find any info on dates for the various models of Simplex (and Huret and the rest) parts from the 60s and 70s. I probably knew a lot more about this stuff once, but it's all gone now.
Does anyone know of a website or publication I could use as a reference? I'd love to know what models were made when and maybe even what they cost.
A second question--anybody know anything about Duralca rims? Know where I could get one in good shape?
Also--thanks again to Ted Ernst, who I'm happy to see is active here, for the generous help with another project, a '50s Follis. That one is still progressing glacially.
