Subject: [CR]Pseudo-Chrome help

I've recently bought a De Rosa that actually fits me (64cm c/c). It's in very good shape except for the fork crown. The chrome on the crown is is not good, with quite a bit of rust. See here <http://www.wooljersey.com/gallery/David-G-Whites-Bikes/80sDeRosa/De+Rosa+fork+crown.jpg.html>.

Since this photo was taken I've used a Dremel to clean off the loose chrome and rust. I seek help figuring out what to do from here. Like all my bikes, this will be a rider, not a show bike. So I do not want to have the fork stripped, rechromed and re-painted. What I'm looking for is some treatment that will look reasonably like chrome to the casual observer and protect the crown from further rust.

I'd appreciate recommendations.

Thanks,

David
