Jeff,

I don't know about any off-list messages you may have received, but after looking at the pics of the frame in question ( http://www.raydobbins.com/misc/Jeffs_Cinelli/Jeffs_Cinelli.htm ) all of the on-list posts so far are unanimous, and that includes me: don't restore that Cinelli.

The paint is pretty bad in some areas, but it is all original. And most important, the decals and the head badge are in very good shape, so the frame doesn't look bad - it looks old and weathered, which is not the same as bad. I really like Pete Geurd's idea of building it up as close as possible to the mint Cinelli you have, that would be a lot of fun. I suggest you get the most properly-functioning but scruffy parts you can find; the more road rash the better. That'll really give the bike the look of a worthy survivor.

If you have some bad rust areas, you may want to take appropriate steps to keep neutralize it...but that is another topic.

Enjoy your ratty but appealing Cinelli.
