Without wishing to bore anyone with my unsucessful attempt to post a pair of alloy rims , the parcel still and will remain on this side of the pond. The help I received from our local rural post office staff was great they did all they could on my behalf. I wonder how they survive with all the red tape put upon them.
However the outcome of all this does have an amusing conclusion. The rejection was because the parcel was two centimetres over size. Big deal .But comments by an post office official takes the biscuit . After explaining the goods were a pair of 27" bicycle rims and wrapped in plastic of the same size. Wait for it ! He then suggested I should make every effort to reduce the size of the goods to the correct measurement required and try again. Needless to say I'd had enough of his help by then ,exasperated I ended the call.
So folks if anyone has a spare hacksaw they wish donate to our governing postal service I'm sure they will be put to good use!!!.
Happy days,
