Oops, I apologize for not signing off properly.

I reread David's post and realize that maybe vinyl decals are ok by him.

So I should really mention the Gerber Edge which is a resin transfer printer/cutter which operates in two steps (but there are now several competitors to Gerber).

Step one:

I supply line art in Illustrator which is resin transfer printer onto sheet vinyl in a color I have selected. Usually I am just having an outline of lettering printed..

Step two:

I have the printed vinyl reregistered onto a plotter cutter and ploter cut the outlines previously printed so that the cut is on the very edge of the printed outline. I lose a bit of the outline and it has sometimes taken several tries to get the registration and plotter cutting exactly right so that the outline is the same width around all of the lettering.

Step three:

Apply transfer paper keep things together and bobs yer uncle!

David:

There must be sign shops out there with a Gerber Edge or similar. If you can't find one, contact me off group and I'll send you the UK contact info.
