Well, as pointed out several times by the CR "Masi mafia" and well documented with comtemporary photos, it seems the first thing you need to reproduce the Merckx/ Simpson Peugeots is a Masi frame painted in Peugeot team colors. It has been pretty conclusively proven that both Merckx and Simpson rode such frames, although it is possiblle they also rode Peugeot-produced frames on other occasions.

I have said before that if I ever come across a cheap deal on a Masi in my size with wasted paint, I'll have it repainted in Peugeot colors.

I'm putting together a 1960's Peugeot PX-10 as ridden by Tom Simpson and Eddy Merckx when they rode for he Peugeot team. I have photos of both of them riding with bar end shifters, which I would like to put on this bike. I also have a Simplex demultiplicator to go with these shifters. I looked back at the CR archives and Google, and there was every opinion as to just what these are supposed to do and whether they are worth putting on a bike. One person said they are intended only for tandems. Would demultiplicators have been around in the years Simpson and Merckx rode for Peugeot, and would they likely have used them? Thanks.
