I am sure I was at that Easter Meeting at the Hill. The previous year 1962 no Italians rode and Ron Baenesch the Australian won. Our Lloyd Binch was in the final with him and came third, the last time he was ever placed in this event. Can't for the life of me remember the second placing. 1963 saw Ron riding on the 50th Anniversary to retain his title. He was unbeatable and the two riders he didn't meet in the heats were in the final with him. These were Koel and our Chris Church. The final was only ever a race for second place and Church got it. This is when the Moulton was at Herne Hill. Our club had a club run every Easter to the Herne Hill meeting. We always made it a Century ride and I rode everyone from 61 to 66.
