I just did that for the first time.

I had only one bidder, he had hit the reserve price and he asked me to finish it up as it was for his son's birtdesignating at that time that the high bidder is able to buy it at that price... eBay still gets their cut! Dale Brown Greensboro, NC USA

I assume Ebay doesn't get their cut in those circumstances too. Seems shady, what's the downside for the seller in letting the auction run its scheduled course aside from the above?
