Thanks to all for the response on finding a 26.2 mm post for my SC. I managed to locate one very quickly from a kind list member. We two "good old fellows" struck a deal with "jovial generosity". Money did change hands, not quite at "1945 prices" but the item was offered significantly cheaper (by a number of list members) than I would have paid on E-bay!
Chivalry still exists. If I can return the favor, I shall.
