Tory, I had a Whirlwind in the early 70's which was re-enamelled by Albert Smith of Clerkenwell. Mine too was in the same metallic Maroon as yours. Albert and our other well established bicycle enamellers call it Crimson. The nearest Pantone colour I believe is 202C but in a Poly or Flam. By coincidence one of the VCC dealers who is regularly at Mildenhall had a very fancy lugged Holdsworth in the same finish for sale this August. Can't remember his name but he was with his club mates so this should narrow it down, the other VCC dealers as far as I know don't compete or belong to cycling clubs. I have no real choice in the enameller I can use in this part of the world everyone is to far away from me except Gerry Williams who was recommended to me by Tony Oliver. This is where he got his frames painted and the majority of North West builders did or still use him. He might have this colour you need? If you need any further help please contact me. I am now off for the local annual speed judging and free wheeling contest thats my only competitive cycling nowadays. Best wishes Joe.
