Well the La Vittelloise bidon didn't manage to break the 200 euros barrier and was picked up for a mere 191. I liked Mark's story about his 1954 T-d-F La Vittelloise bidon..and this got me thinking about another La Vittelloise bidon that went through French Ebay about three weeks ago.

This was one of the original alloy bottles with the cork stopper, the La Vittelloise logo having been somehow printed over the alloy. The bottle itself was pretty well dented..a kind of patina I suppose..from obviously having been thrown down so often..and picked up..and refilled rather than just being left by the roadside in today's fashion.

Mark's bottle on his '55 Torpado is a 1954 edition..so I'm wondering if anyone on the List can remember when the plastic bottles replaeced the aluminium ones. It musr have been around 53/54 because I watched the 52 Tour..and the riders had alloy bottles at that time.
