I own two Italvegas (a 1971 (bought new) and a 1972 Super Speciale) and neither one has a diamond cutout. Maybe the later Italvegas were just trying to reduce weight and a diamond was just as good as a circle or a square or something else. They are good bikes and ride very nicely.
