Colnago Fans:

I think that the Colnago headbadge changed from a plain club to the club-with-slanted-world-champ-stripes in 1978.

This is based on race bike photos in the Kennedy Bros Giro and Tour book series.

In 1978 the MECAP team had the "new" slanted world champ band headtube insignia, and it is also shown on the Colnagos being advertised in the 1978 Bikecology catalog. 1978 also appears to be the first year that Colnago used top-tube brake cable braze-ons.

In 1976 and 1977 the SCIC team had the plain club on the head tube, although they did have the club-with-slant-stripes on the top front of the seat tube, with Colnago written vertically below that. These bikes use brake cable clips along the top tube.

In 1975 the SCIC team had the same as above, but a plain club on the top front of the seat tube with the word Colnago written vertically down the front of the tube.

In 1974, the SCIC team bikes had a plain club on the head tube, and they did not have the word Colnago written vertically on the front of the seat tube -- there was a plain club midway up the front of the seat tube flanked by two horizontal world champ decals (one at the top of the seat tube and one at the bottom, just above the front derailleur clamp).
