There are Carlton Flyers and Carlton Professionals. I think that both, in their time, were the top racing model. I am not aware of the two names coming together at any time. I would guess that your 1974 frame was made after or at about the time when the Flyer name was dropping out (I am totally open to correction on that).

My own Carlton Flyer track frame from the 60's has the name Flyer on the seat tube and is made from 531 butted tubes, simple pointed lugs, twin-plate-look fork crown and Campagnolo dropouts. It takes a 27.2mm dia seat post.

As a point of interest, what other manufacturers used the "Flyer" name? I know that CCM did and I think there were others. Was the name only used on bona fide racing models or has it been used to try to add spice to something more mundane?

Hi all, I looked on the CR homepage, and google, unable to find this model. I'd like to hear from anyone that owns one, or thinks that I have been given the wrong model name for my bike frame, I met the original owner of my track frame tonight, thats the model he told me that it was when he bought it in 1974. Would be nice to compare stories just to see if what he told me is correct, no reason to say that I don't believe him, just good to know for sure. All revieved emails replied to, might take a wee while, ISP is tsill a little slow, but at least they are still coming in......regards wayne davison Invers NZ........
