All too often what is said about a bike or frame at the time of sale is just not so and repeating it doesn't make it ok. A little due diligence is required before a person asserts a bike is thus and such, even with the caveat that this is based merely on the former owners assertions.

Just as a for instance, I really doubt this bike is made with straight guage Reynolds 531 main tubes, but thats what the sticker indicates.

This is kind of bike identification 101 and is an immediate tip off (without Bruce Gordon's level of expertise) that the frame has been "refinished". Other than Raleigh Super Courses and a few oddballs (CCM, Dawes, some Holdsworths come to mind) straight guage 531 just does not show up in many frames in the US and no custom or semi-custom ones that I know of.

> Bob; All information I passed onto the list with regard to this

\r?\n> frame was given to me by the shop owner from which I purchased

\r?\n> the frame, and as I'm a trusting soul, I took this information

\r?\n> to be correct. You could have written "offlist" as to your

\r?\n> thoughts on this frame, since as I was not aware, you worked at

\r?\n> Eisentrauts in the 70s. Out of respect for your knowledge of

\r?\n> this frame, I would gladly have corrected the information

\r?\n> provided to the list members.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> In the future If I sell an item to the list and you find my

\r?\n> information needs correcting or editing, please have enough

\r?\n> respect for me as a list member to make suggested corrrections

\r?\n> offlist, and I will do so in a follow up to the list.

\r?\n> It is not a 1972 - the first Limiteds were made in 1975, I think.

\r?\n> The fork is NOT the original, and the decals are wrong. Also,

\r?\n>

\r?\n> For sale; A very nice 1972 Albert Eisentraut frame set, size

\r?\n> 21&1/2" with a

\r?\n> top tube, and seat tube measurements center to center. The seat

\r?\n> tube is

\r?\n> 27.2mm, rear spacing is 126mm and wheelbase is 39" measured CC

\r?\n> on the front

\r?\n> and rear dropouts. Top and down tube are gloss black, with white

\r?\n> head tube

\r?\n> panel, and seat tube. Head lugs are chromed with spade cut outs

\r?\n> in the

\r?\n> spearponts. Spade cutouts also appear in the seat lug. The fork

\r?\n> and rear

\r?\n> stays are silver enamel and appear to be clearcoated.

\r?\n>

\r?\n> I purchased the bike frame a year ago, and have ridden it a bit

\r?\n> this past

\r?\n> summer, and found it a great rider. It is according to the prior

\r?\n> owner in

\r?\n> original enamel, which is all in very nice condition except for

\r?\n> the head

\r?\n> tube panel that was scratched in shipping. Repaint of the

\r?\n> headtube should be

\r?\n> a minor expense, maybe $50 and is reflected in my asking price

\r?\n> of $750 or

\r?\n> best offer.
