charlie flaherty and Peter Naiman-

I agree with charlie that "tone" is really important in email communication. I feel that everyone who chooses to use email as a form of communication should go out of their way to try to ensure a collegial tone.

However, I have strong feelings about crossing T's and dotting I's on the bikes that we collect and ride- it's equally important as tone.

Wrong information tends to get perpetuated, and complacency regarding proper due diligence can be perceived as willful. (Please note that I said "perceived"). In other words, if you aren't darn sure about the facts, qualify the heck out of it, and say that you aren't sure. Peter made a choice to take as fact the seller's representation about the frame. and that ended up being the wrong decision. Peter- if it were me, I would have taken responsibility for the screw-up, and apologized immediately. Instead, you got defensive. That rubs me the wrong way!

We all owe it to our colleagues, new and old, to get the facts straight, (defensible) or be clear that the facts are uncertain.

...of what bruce gordon wrote, yes the contents were helpful...it's the tone that needs adjustment....who amongst us hasn't passed on information we believed to be true...but to suggest that the frame should be returned to the shop because the shop "lied" to peter is a little over the top and

presumptuous....ahh, don't cha think! and for all the bluster and rush to cross the T and

dot the i on the production dates w/ an "I think" kind of takes a little of the authority out of the statement.....this seriousness among friends over a frame that got its pedigre cleaned up quick is laughable...and i do mean laughable.

why the bah humbug??? charlie flaherty baltimore maryland usa
