Subject: [CR]Nervex Bottom Bracket Stampings

Hello list,

I'm in the early stages of cleaning up the J.A. Holland bicycle that I purchased from list member Sam Wise. One of the things I'm not quite certain of is the date it was made. From some pictures, Norris Lockley identified the head lugs as Oscar Egg, and indicated that those lugs were not being made in 1955.

The other day I finally got around to cleaning up the bottom bracket, and saw that it was clearly stamped "NERVEX", and then underneath that, all on one line:

61'64'D22zE38

...well, if you replace the ' with a degree symbol superscripted, and the z with a small subscripted 2, that would be how it reads.

I am wondering, would anyone know what the markings stand for? I'd guess that the 61' and 64' are lug angles, but what of the rest of it? I tried searching the archives for "Nervex AND stamp", but didn't find any postings that seemed to pertain.

Thanks in advance,

John Barry Mechanicsburg, PA, USA
