What? Nobody mentions the "Grand Tourismo?"

------------------ Sure John,

We do mention that derailleur, just not in polite company or with ladies present.

A fine piece of work that Gran Turismo. Good paper weights, door stops, offensive weapons.

I think even Campagnolo would prefer that noone mentions or remembers the GT - which has the dual distinctions of being both arguably Campy's worst shifting derailleur ever produced and undeniably the heaviest as well.

The year was 1969... perhaps this was some poor designer's brain on drugs. Actually, it's a good example of Tulio's disdain for "touring" components and his contempt for cyclo-tourist types in general.

I seem to recall one wonderful comment in the "Dancing Chain" book, to the effect that: ... while they shifted simply horribly, the one good thing which could be said about the heavy steel derailleurs was they were so strong that when they - inevitably - DID jam up the chain, the bike frame would often bend before the derailleur actually broke. :-)
