Several of the 7-11 riders have mentioned publicly that their bikes, in the grand bike racing tradition, were not as badged. As mentioned, Hampsten rode bikes built by Land Shark, as did Roy Knickman from what I've read. Bob Roll stated in an interview a few years ago that he had frames built by DeRosa during this time, others rode frames from Ritchey and a local Colorado builder or two. From what I understand, all this stopped when Merckx became the bike sponsor. I actually think the red/white/green Huffy frames were way cool looking... Regarding Huffy branded bikes, LeMond rode silver Huffy frames, built by Della Santa(?) for at least one season in the 80's. As a hardware junkie, I would cruise the team vehicle areas of the Coors Classic and marvel at the varying frame features, fittings and sometimes even the styles of the team bikes that the 'big boys' were riding. Seems almost every team had a rider or more on Alan frames, too.
