Like most if not all members I greatly appreciate Norris's learned contributions particularly about French cycling. That does not mean, however, that I was not mildly annoyed by his claim to hold a patent on part of the English language. Fortunately there was an excellent, and moderate, response that explained why he was wrong so I did not feel the need to add my tuppenceworth. However had I done so and Norris had been upset well so what? I dont know Norris and he doesnt know me. It is unlikely that we shall ever meet. If we can't disagree and indeed be rude to each other it is poor show. After all if we didn't have firmly held views would we bother to contribute? Ray Green, Harrow, Middlesex.
