The philosophical conundrum of when something is not itself anymore, when most or all of it has been replaced piecemeal, dates back at least to Plutarch and is often call "The Ship of Theseus Paradox": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus

I find it most interesting that it is different for different cultures. The example given is the Japanese temple which has burned down and rebuilt many times but it still considered the same temple.

So maybe the Cooper is still a Cooper? If the World's Top Philosophers haven't settled the question in several millennia, then who are we to decide?
