Now, don't get me wrong. I like Bob Freitas very much, and really admire his willingness to go the extra mile to get things right. I mean, like we're close enough (or desperate enough) to have swapped Cinelli Bivalent parts hoping to have order and operability spontaneously emerge from our overlapping parts collections...

But, Bob, isn't this going too far, I mean looking for a S/A 5-speed? I mean, like it might be ok for a wall queen, but you weren't planning to actually ride it, were you? I mean, for the reliabliity and ease of use it was reputed to have had, you could get a Cyclo 5-speed derailleur, and take the chance of using a TDC FW w/o a remover... Probably a better bet. Now there's a dilemna worthy of Pete Kohler: Cyclo or Sturmey? :-)

Would the 36 hole 5-speed have been a part for a US-origin BMX bike? Or did they use 28-hole? Crate-type bike, with the patented "emasculator" long-reach shift levers that mounted on the top tube, such as it was?

harvey sachs rode 16 miles today, on the Cinelli with Bivalent hubs. It's just a bike, until you look at it.
