Hmmm, the best solution for a Stronglight triple was of course the Stronglight mod 99. which had a smaller BCD and was made primarlily, though perhaps not exclusively, to support triples. The mod 99 was made for a long time and thee are quite a few around. As far as I'm aware, no Stronglight crank had additional holes in the crankarms or the larger rings to support triples. Rather, one simply used longer chainring bolts and a set of spacers between middle and inner rings. Probably need a longer axle, too. ++++++++++ couple of notes: 1) Stronglight 99 has an 86mm BCD, 50.5 mm. between bolt centers. 2) One reason I like them is that there is about 4 - 5 mm more clearance between inside of left arm and outside of outer chainring. This gives much more freedom in selecting effective front derailleurs than you get with TA- or Stronglight 49d-based systems, which matters in some installations. 3) Mike Self first pointed out to me that (surprise!) they come in a couple of flavors. Early ones use the unique Stronglight crank puller; later ones take the Campagnolo "standard." Later ones are often identified by crank arm "spider" legs that that just seem too narrow for the rings, so the ring tabs for the bolt are a bit wider than the stub arms. Not as true for the earlier ones. Moral: If it looks good, it takes the hard-to-find puller. There is also a somewhat later version with a rather different and very nice arm profile, and I'd love to know its name. 4) SR/Sakae made a nice clone, with "Campag" threading. I actually bought a Schwinn Super LeSomething with those cranks out of frustration with the high (to me) ebay prices of the 99s, which tend to a bit North of $75 + shipping.

Thanks to the list member who recently sold me a pair of 99s for my Hetchins. I may soon sell my TAs, which were not original to the bike, either.
